Re: 68 Chevy cabs
I sold a 68 cab needing inner and outer rockers last month for $500. I'm in WI, and the cab came from TX, that's why it was so clean.

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
If it's rust free or all the work is done to it, that's not a bad price. Factor in shipping one or traveling to get one and it can get pricey.

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
The no title part would be a NO DEAL for me... Unless you plan on using a rivet gun in a "not so legal" way...
Come to Carlisle truck show, I can't promise you better prices but I do have a guy that hauls AZ sheet metal around, I can look for his number. Rust free cabs with door can top $2K at times.

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
I wouldn't mind paying that much if it had a title. When is the show. I figure either pay 2k for a rust free cab or I'm looking at double the cost for all the body work on my cab. I'm good at fabbing but no patience for body work lol

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
I just picked one up in MO for $575...was a Texas cab so fairly rust free...needs rockers and a bit of nip tuck here and there. Totally worth the trailer rental and the 16 hour round trip drive.

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
1200 if it's in really good condition on the east coast is not bad. You could spend a lot more time and money fixing one that was not mint. Not sure how tough NJ it on titles but in Ri nobody would look at something that old twice as long as the original title on the truck was ok,did you/ do you have it registered now?

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
Ya my truck is registered now but needs all the floor supports pillars driver floor pan inner and outer rockers and corners and i kno that's goin to cost a pretty penny then on top of that I'll be having the auto body guy put my 05 suburban firewall on it so I can use the hvac box and all extras to go along

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
They make new floors now, pick on up @ Carlisle for $400 and weld it in... I did and it looks brand new. Also, look into Vintage Air for your HVAC, all new parts and cleans up the firewall.
Carlisle truck show is in Aug... www.carsatcarlisle.com

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
The one in MO was from a member on this board. But he got it from a contact down in Texas.
Point is, if you don't mind driving and have some time, driving to the right location can save some money.

Re: 68 Chevy cabs
The reason I'm using the 05 firewall is for the hvac and also all the wiring that runs through I checked out vintage air but I'm a big fan of using wat you have the 68 is goin on the suburban frame since the previous owner hacked the frame all up in 3 different places so I'll be using the 5.3 ls motor and the nv3500 I put in the burb this goin to be my daily drive so I'm really goin for old look with all the new age gear.
