bed cross memebers

has anyone here ever tried replacing the cross member for under the bed of their truck. I have a couple rotted out but i like the aged look of the box and dont want to do a replacement. Any tips info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: bed cross memebers

Hi There, I am in the process of replacing all of the bed cross members on my 82'. You can buy replacements from a distributor of "Key Parts" . The new members are very good quality, and I believe they are thicker than the originals. Probably easiest to pull off your box, and tip it over to remove / replace. Drill out spot welds with a bit or spot weld cutter to remove originals. Drill 5/16" holes in new members, and plug weld to bed bottom with a MIG welder.
