73-87 c20 help needed with suspension and a understanding

I am looking at a 87 c20 3+3 crew cab that was made into a short bed . It's 2wd 454 th400 14 bolt, not sure what derection to go with truck if I should lower it, if so can I use 1/2 ton components , I was thinging I could just buy a c10 and use all front suspesion and rear end component and do a 4/6 drop, please help me get a better understanding thank you .
