Power steering hoses?

Hey guys,

I just bought an 86 c20, and I'm looking at rockauto to order a new power steering hose. Does anyone know why there are two designs? I see one says 1st design and one says 2nd design, it looks like the second design has more of a loop at the end but I'm not sure which one I need. I can go look tomorrow but I was curious if someone had insight as to why/when this went into effect?

Re: Power steering hoses?

Hello. I just replaced the hoses on my 1975 this morning. I would offer an alternative purchase location of Autozone only because you can order both types to the store and take yours in for comparison or at least have an easy return if necessary. Autozone offers AC Delco and a few other manufacturers brands. I know this doesn't answer your question directly but hope it helps.

Re: Power steering hoses?

Oh there's a possibility, I hadn't thought of that. I was more curious than anything.

Usually I order online because I can get a deal but I have found you always have to shop around. This hose in particular is only $0.50 more at Advance so that's no big deal. I ordered wheel seals this morning because I got SKF seals for $3 and at advance their cheap ones are 4.99 and their good ones are 8.99. Plus I ordered the brake hardware I need so I didn't get screwed with shipping.

I gotta tell you, I buy hoses and belts at local auto parts stores. If they don't work, I can take them back and get the right ones in no time at all. Did the same for my alternator and PS pump because they have lifetime warranties.

Re: Power steering hoses?

I usually do too. It depends on how certain I am that I have the right one and price. If there's any question it's very nice to be able to just zip over and swap it out!
