Anyone used Mcgaughys disc brake kit with stock drum spindles?

So the front drums on Gold Digger are completely shot and Im looking for the cheapest way to go disc brakes. Im looking at this kit but Im not sure if it will work with my stock spindles. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mmc-63157/overview/ Anyone know if I can do this? Or know of a way to put 6 lug disc brakes on on the cheap?

Try looking for scarebird classic brakes. I have used them on my 65 mustang. Will use again when I build my 69 chevy c10. http://scarebird.com/index.php?route...product_id=150

Understand that this kit only comes with brackets and does not include the rotor an caliper

I am converting mine to the 72 model spindle by just using 72 ball joints I bought a whole front end from a junk yard for 125.00

Make sure to save the 72 centerlink.
You will need it because the tie rods are different and centerlinks aren't reproduced.

This kit requires you to purchase spindles also,...

QUOTE:
Kit includes 6-lug rotors.
Fits models with only heavy duty stock brake rotors measuring 1.25 in. thick.
Must be used with McGaughy's spindle numbers 63173, and 63174.

Also you must switch the M/C to a disc brake version and add a proportioning valve for disc brakes.

Yeah i figured for that price lol but the junkyard here knows me so well that they sell me parts for little to nothing so this is definitely the more cost effective way to go for me.

Re: Anyone used Mcgaughys disc brake kit with stock drum spindles?

So im looking at their site and i see these to convert the back to disc brakes also. Does anyone know if these are the right pattern for the 12 bolt in my truck? Like was there a difference between the car and truck 12 bolt rearend axel tube flanges? https://scarebird.com/index.php?rout...product_id=146

Re: Anyone used Mcgaughys disc brake kit with stock drum spindles?

That Mcgaughys kit is no where near to getting you on the road.

Beside the kit you'll need to buy spindles, swap master cylinders, get a proportioning valve, and a pair of front wheels that will clear the discs.

I'd say try to find a 73-87 front frame cut from a truck being parted out, do the suspension swap under your truck, use the entire brake lines and all from master cylinder all the way out. Then buy a pair of 6 lug rotors from ECE or CPP or wherever you choose would come out cheaper.
