best ride n blazer
Is there a commonly understood way to get the best (most car like) ride on a 1975 blazer at stock height. Is the only way by lowering and softening springs?

You removed a 4" lift and put factory springs back on didn't you? Did you replace all the spring and shackle bushings front and rear? The front shackle bushings are bad about egging out in the frame, they're not doing much at that point. The rear shackle bushings harden and the bolt can rust to the sleeve in the bushing, all that slows the shackle movement down and contributes to a bad ride.

All shackle bushings, sway bar bushings, body mounts and engine mounts were replaced and i replaced shocks with new Bilsteins. Honestly its been at the body shop for so long now that I've forgotten how it DOES ride, but I know that teh nice new interior and clean paint etc won't persuad ethe wife to coem out in it if it's like a rattly old can on springs.
I have been reading and considering recently the best way to get the perfect stance and ride and I'm just wondering what experiences lurk on this forum. |

Short of getting custom springs made you've done about all you can do with a solid axle truck riding on leaf springs. Those Bilstein's should do a good job of taming the rebound, or "bouncy" part of the ride. Honestly, some wives just don't dig old trucks. Mine doesn't. She doesn't care that I do or bug me about it but she doesn't want to go for a ride either. Just a thought.

Offroad Design sells greasable shackles and softer front springs based on your needs. Couple options there that might help. I have a buddy that installed a set of their stock length soft style front springs, he says the ride is much better.

Also, Offroad Design will build custom sets of leaf springs. Expensive. I have a set. They're definitely an upgrade, but not an order of magnitude difference in the scheme of things. They use thin leaves of about 10 per pack. This gives the springs lots of flex due to the alleviation of shear stresses in the packs. If only the best will do, this is probably it.

I checked out their site and costs - looks like $700 or thereabouts for a new set of front springs. this might well have to wait a while.

You could add a seat with a suspension base / spring or shock absorber.
