Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
The cover on my steering wheel adapter is rubbing on the column. What is going on I have taken it apart 3 times and still rubbing. The part my finger is point at. This isn't rocket science but I am over looking something?

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Should I have a spring under that? I am throwing anything at the wall trying to get it to stick. This is driving crazy.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Maybe a tight fit washer under it before you put it on will do the trick.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
It's only rubbing on one side. The side I am pointing at.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
The only thing that has changed beside the new steering wheel is the adapter my other wheel had a grant adapter. This one has the forever sharp steering wheel adapter. So I ordered a grant adapter and see if that fixes it.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
See this big gap here. What do I need to do to push that back?

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
I think you've found the problem, I've used 3 of these wheels recently and they all had a 1/16 uniform gap around the column covers. Are the covers good and tight?

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Everything is torqued to spec. This is frustrating as hell. And I am honestly lost on what needs to be done at this point.
Which covers are you speaking about? Last edited by RodsGreen10; 06-02-2016 at 03:04 PM. |

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
I've always bought the Forever wheel and A1 adapter as a set.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
In this video from Forever sharp it looks like you may need to use a supplied spacer if the adapter sets down to far.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Fixed it. It was the cover in the first pic it was bent. Bent it back good to go!

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Hey, I’m having the same problem. Were you able to bend it while on the column or did you take it apart?

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Surprised to see this being a problem as I have the opposite issue with my forever sharp setup. There’s about a 1/4” gap all around on mine.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Mine only rubs in one location on the cover. I’m wondering if I could gain more room by going to the original canceling cam. The new cancelling cam is slightly smaller. I did order another original to try. I think I’ll break my old one if I try to remove the plunger.

Re: Steering Wheel Adapter Rubbing?
Decided to pull it apart. I disassembled my old cancelling cam and used that. It’s slightly bigger than what I could find in town and it pushed the adapter out just enough that it doesn’t rub anymore.
