WTB: upper molding trim clips
Hi, looking to buy at least 10 prefer 15 of these trim clips. Have had absolutely no luck with aftermarket clips. Please let me know what you have and how much! Thank you.

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
This is what they will be used for if it helps ease the pain of letting go lol

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
Can't help with the clips, but I feel your pain. Those repop Chinese clips are pretty much usless. I actually used a bit of silicone to help hold them into place. After I was 100% sure they were lined up correctly

All the moldings I bought came with clips, most double stick taped on but my truck is pretty drilled, so I wanted to use what should be there. I find it funny that some of the clips for the lower molding the came with the aftermarket pieces, are too small to even fit in the trim. They should have saved themselves some money and just sent me the trim and a note for the clips saying your on your own lol

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
The sticky type are pretty much worthless, GM or repop. GM seems to have used them in '72 to prevent rust around the holes & dirt getting in from behind. As soon as they got real hot, they let go! It helps to run a couple drilled clips, with the stickys, so they can't release.
The repop metal clips are pretty good. Patience is required and you have to be very creative on some of the corner pieces...ie, trim to adjust. |

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
Here is what you need... and they work GREAT!
The repro crappy clips that came with our new tailgate moldings from Mar-K would not completely insert into the holes in the tailgate. Did I say they were awful? The body shop ruined the first set of new moldings trying to get the clips to seat. There were little dimples on the front side of the moldings from the pressure on the clips. I ruined a second new set of tailgate molding trying to get these same repro clips to seat. No luck, and the "tails" were breaking off the clips like crazy. On the third set of tailgate moldings I used these clips... and they SEATED PERFECTLY. Nice and tight... no problems. After researching the original GM Part number for these clips, I cross referenced them on the Fastenal website. Sure enough, they carried the clips and my local Fastenal store ordered them for me. A couple days later I had a box of 25 Au-ve-co ciips. I took some photos of the box showing the company name and part numbers. You could probably order direct from Au-ve-co, but Fastenal didn't charge me for shipping. I hope this helps. POP

I will admit that I haven't tried the aftermarket metal upper clips, it's the lower molding clips that were too small to properly "latch" in the channels on the trim.

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
Sorry about that. They looked exactly like the ones I just bought. I included a picture below showing the size of mine.
Check with Fastenal (or Au-ve-co) for GM #4759145 Moulding Clip. Au-ve-co shows them as part number 2943 in their catalog. Not sure if they are what you have because I don't see any specs listed. I hope this helps. POP

Re: WTB: upper molding trim clips
Thanks for the info, I think I will grab some of those as they are the same for the upper tailgate molding as well as taillight bezels. Here is a photo if a clip like yours next to the ones I am looking for that are much larger. I haven't found ano aftermarket box of those other than buying from lmc or other truck parts places
