Front Leaf Spring Mount Brackets
On my 71 K10 there are braces welded across the forward side of each front spring mount bracket. Are these braces a factory item? In all of the pictures that I've seen on this board I haven't seen any of the 4X4s with these braces.

I have had two trucks with the same thing. It must be factory, I can't imagine someone doing that just for fun.

I had it on the driver side only. Cut it off when I installed the 2" lift springs.

It must be factory as we have three trucks with the braces on them and I have seen others. Not all trucks have them though.
I don't quite understand why. I think it is a good idea and plan to install the braces on the one truck without them. Jim |

Come to think of it, mine were driver side only also.
I have also seen some trucks that have an angle bracket fastened to the frame behind the front shackle. It looks like some kind of overtravel stop for the spring. I suppose it could be something to keep the front end from hopping. Since the factory springs are nearly flat there would not be much movement of the shackle.
