1976 grill question

Hey everyone, I have a 76 gmc 1500 that had the wrong grill on it when I got it. The po zip ties the grill on and I'm havin a hard time figuring out what I need or what I'm missing. I have a few different grilles but nothing works. Here is a pic of what my truck has.

Re: 1976 grill question

Here's a pic of the grilles that I have. The Chevy grill was the one that was on there when I bought it. I got the roll bar grill from a junk yard but it does mount it.

Re: 1976 grill question

The 75-76 GMC grills are TUFF to find-there's the deluxe version with stainless horizontal trim in the middle and the standard one is dark grey on those parts while the rest is an argent silver. I have a restored 77-79 style GMC grill that would work but technically isn't accurate. I have a standard unrestored 1976 GMC grill that I'll have completed in a few weeks when I can find some time. Jeff on here may have a couple....?

Re: 1976 grill question

So then how does my grill mount? Do I need some type of stand off of something.

Re: 1976 grill question

There should be a total of 4 of these round plastic mounts that snap into the support at each side, then the grill screws screw into them. I think the center mounts are square ones.

Do those clips go by the upper and lower grill trim or on the vertical supports? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just tired of chasing grills and not getting the right one.

Re: 1976 grill question

You can see two of the white clips in your picture, they have just been painted over.

Re: 1976 grill question

The grille in your picture is not the 75-76 grille. it is 77-79. That may be part of your problem
