WTB Toolbox door

Hoping to find either an NOS, or a repairable used 67-72 style door. (If such a thing exists!)
I am restoring a truck for a customer, and just found out his NOS door is for a 73 up. He purchased a door, and a whole bunch of other NOS parts from a guy several years back. Nobody realized it was the wrong door, untill I tried to fit it last week. I found out that the 73 up doors are a little shorter in length, and have a little more curve from top to bottom, as well as a slightly larger handle. Tried searching, but so far have come up empty. Anybody have a door stashed away? I also need one used hinge.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give!

Re: WTB Toolbox door

you can reskin the door , buy a front lower bedside repair panel from lmc and cut and break form the door skin you can do it with time and patience, also use a good sharp putty knife and hammer to gently open up the hem folds around the door and be careful measuring your id deminsions. also cut out the latch out in a square piece with plenty of good metal left around it from the original piece mount that to the back piece witha bolt that size of hole for temporary while you measure for the latch to mount in the front skin, when correct fitting is completed tach patch in being careful not to warp it , the back piece should be sand blasted and repaired with plastic body filler and plastic netting, use plenty of good rust protection paint on inner and outer pieces, when all is ready to go back together carefuly fold the break hims down over back piece .

Re: WTB Toolbox door

Thanks Jerry. I will check it out.
Rusty, a reskin is my backup plan. I still need to find a door with a solid jamb area, as this one is plenty rusted.
Thanks!

Re: WTB Toolbox door

I have this one. It had a patch put in by someone prior to me getting it. I found a rust free one right after I bought this one so i have no use for it. $150 shipped. Don't have the lock or key for it. I can sand the rest of the paint off if you want to see it better. The metal patch they put in was not put in flush with the og metal, I was going to cut the welds and bring it flush.

Re: WTB Toolbox door

Thanks for the offer Richard. That one looks about the same as the one that I have now. Hoping to find one without cancer in the jamb area. I have a couple of leads to check out. I will hold out for a bit. You actually found a rust free one?!!!

Re: WTB Toolbox door

No problem, just thought I would offer. I did find one rust free but it does have a few dents in the face that will need to be taken care of.

Richard
