3 point mirrors?

I searched and only found some old threads. I am doing a full resto on a 72 GMC burb and debating what I want to do with the mirrors. The doors look to have 3 sets of holes in them from previous owners. I believe it came with regular sport mirrors but is a 4x4 and had larger mirrors added later. I will be towing so I'm thinking of going to the smaller 3 point mirror.
I have not seen anyone mention the potential denting that can happen from these 3 point setups. Here is an old Chevy door that had a large 3 point on it. You can see the damage from where it got bumped.
Any thoughts? Maybe smaller 3 point = less potential damage?
I'll probably just patch all the holes and start over once I decide.

Re: 3 point mirrors?

That is a common problem with the camper/towing mirrors, mostly. '72s used a smaller mirror than 69-71, like what you show in first picture. The '72s bolt down onto the flat spot up top and and lower arms bolt above upper side trim (if equipped). Those would be your safest bet, and correct for your Suburban
