58 Project
Just getting going on my 58 project. Came to me 23 years ago and has been garaged ever since. '69 Chevy 307, 4 on the floor, lot's of rust. In the tear down phase now.
Just bought a 56 chassis to swap since it's in much better shape and was a great deal. I've found the front cross member to be different than the 58. All images I could find, even for 58/59 match this. Anyone have ideas how mine is so different and still factory riveted? The 56: Mine: |

Re: 58 Project
Welcome.
58/59 frames are different than 55/56/57. Radiator core support is different along with being longer if I remeber right. Kim |

Re: 58 Project
They are definitely longer by 2.5 inches. I knew that going into it, but this is throwing me for a loop. Every 58-59 I've found so far online has had the same cross member as the 56. So, something isn't adding up. Even this shows the same as the 56.

Re: 58 Project
I'll have to look at mine but that may be a GMC 6cyl front crossmember. I think it uses the single center front engine mount.
