3x1 carb build
I'm looking for some help with building a 3x1 for my 292...is having the correct "family" of carburetor sufficient, or do you also need the part number to match? Currently, I have a Rochester MonoJet, part number 7028017, and sourcing 2 more, or even three is not proving to be very easy.

Re: 3x1 carb build
the 292 carbs are slightly larger than the 194/230/250 carbs. in terms of cfm. The 292 throttle plates are slightly larger in diameter.
The 194-250 carbs are more plentiful. three of them should flow plenty of cfm's for a 292 aplication. There is a club, Inliners international(?) that caters to the six cylinder croud. Cliffords sells alot of six cylibder performance goods too. |

Re: 3x1 carb build
Go old school when setting up multi carb intakes use an Edelbrock 4025 Uni -Syn $29.99 carb balancing synchronizer Or the Empi 5746 $21.99 which is basically the same tool .

Re: 3x1 carb build
One carb does the trick on a 292, so I'd go with the smaller displacement Rochester carb. Are Edelbrock carbs old school now? When did they start selling carbs? I think of them as modern. Do they offer someone's 1bbl? Sorry for my ignorance, but I always thought of Edelbrock manifold/Stromberg,Solex,Bendix,or other old name as old school. Didn't even know they did a 1bbl.

Of course the eddy carbs are 'old skool'! They're just carter afb's which have been around since the beginning of time! |

Re: 3x1 carb build
I guess my real question is since I have one Rochester 7028017, do I HAVE to get two more 7028017's?

Re: 3x1 carb build
With a progressive linkage, are there any modifications I would have to do to these carbs once they're mounted?

Re: 3x1 carb build
You might need to plug off the idle circuit's on the end carbs.

I think it's best to have three same carbs. That's what I would do. Besides, they all will have same hook-up for linkage, match in appearance, and make service parts more simple. Would be cool to set up 2-stage with center full time and two and three kicking in for the big power demand.

Re: 3x1 carb build
I should have three of the same, if not, three very close models (so far, I've now got two 7028017's, and possibly a third)...to me, it seems like the 702 is the "family", and the last four seem like some type of unique designator...I found a guide for determining what model went on what motor
