Even thought it will be mostly covered up you'll be glad you did it. Plus it makes your truck drive better

Thanks, yes it looks cool now, but I bet after a year it will be chipped and what not, but its better than the rusty frame it was before I started. Its not powdercoated unfortunatly, its just XO-Rust which is similar to Rustoleum. I brushed it on hoping it would be thicker and not scratch/chip as easy. I painted each individule rivit/bolt that was still in the frame with a small artist paint brush.

All the metal lines like tranny cooler, gas, brake lines are red. Front and rear end will be black, tranny and tcase will be orange, tranny is a 350 so that will stay aluminum. The tcase has aluminum covers on it (203) so they will stay aluminum also. I'm leaning towards painting the body black. But, winter is comming, we've already had a couple inches of snow that melted so the project is going to have to get put on hold for awhile.

Does it look as good in person as it does in the pics? From here it looks like a nice textured powder coating. Ya got a link to this XO-Rust stuff?

It looks very good in person. Its shiny, but if you look real close you can see brush marks. It seems that the brush strokes show more where there was paint on the frame that I wire wheeled off than where large ammounts of rust were. I'm guessing that it won't hold up nearly as well as powdercoat would. Also, paint each rivit by hand is asking for a slip of the wirst, so there are a few spots where I got some black onto the grey and probably some where not all the rivit is black. I'm assuming the shinyness will fade after a bit also.

Nope, I don't have a link to XOrust. I work at a hardware store that carries it. I'm pretty sure its just like rustoleum, its oil based. Maybe a search on the net could find some results

I did a Google search for the XO Rust. Everything seems to indicate that it is a True Value Hardware store brand, similar to Rustoleum.
