I shimmed existing pad and lightly sanded face of pad. Did this on my truck and it worked great. No more free swinging doors.

Re: door hinges

I have read threads on here before that talked about guys using brake pad or shoe lining material and gluing it to the metal backing plate. Shimming it might be a better idea.

I cut a magnetic business card to size and assembled with a little weatherstrip adhesive. They were actually a hair to thick so I lightly sanded on belt sander. Should be good for many years.

Re: door hinges

How did you get the original material loose from the metal holder?

Wedged a 3/4'" wood chisel between them and it came out easily in 1 piece. Have done 4 and so far and they have come loose in one piece.
