I hope someone out there has a picture of how a 1970 C10 grill is painted original?

Yes it is the original grille. I stripped it and polished it, then repainted the black back to original. It's a lot of work but still better than anything aftermarket.

The grill was stripped with a chromic/phosphoric acid solution. I hired this part out as these materials are hard to come by for a casual user, need to be heated to about 175F and are hazardous as well. I didn't want to deal with this part. The rest is just different grades of sandpaper and lots of patience. It works best to use wet sandpaper with mineral spirits as the lubricant. Then polish with Autosol.
