Picked up a Makita 1/4 Impact - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I hemmed and hawwed for a while, but finally took the leap and bought a Drill/IMpact driver kit. My old Ryobi Jobsite drill is killing batteries and only lasts a few minutes, so I needed a new drill regardless...and I'd been eyeing up an impact to save my wrists and back on all those small fasteners.

The CT200rw kit was on sale at the Home Despot with the fathersday sale, unadvertised for only $169. Impact Driver, Drill, 2 batteries and a 25min rapid charger. I priced the tool alone at $99 with one battery....and another battery was $85! Cheaper to buy the kit!! (and you get a soft cases, but who really cares)

So far I'm pretty happy with this setup. The rapid charger is awesome, and the 1/4 driver is light and feels good in the hand. The drill is nice as well. It doesn't have that corded-drill replacement feeling that the bada$$ brushless ones do, but seems more than fast and torquey enough for most of the wood/plastic/light sheetmetal that its used for.

I'll probably put a review up on my YouTube channel for anyone interested, but in the meantime just felt like giving it the positive recommendation.

Cool. I like the idea of having both, especially when you're doing work that needs to be pre-drilled. I have a Makita worm drive saw that's over 20 years old, and it still runs great. Makita seems to make good stuff.

i have a couple of them. I keep a Makita drill and impact in the garage for around the house and I have another I keep in my utility truck, i also have a ridgid impact and drill set I keep in the gang box on my job sites.
they are actually very affordable now, I've ben using cordless impacts for over 20 years and back then the 12v Makita was $250 for just the impact, charger and one battery. on top of that you had to go to the Makita store to get them back then. in fact dewalt was still black & decker industrial back then

I have had that Makita set for quite a few years. My dad has had a set for about 9 years and my brother has had that set for about 7 years. All were basically used constantly and have had no issues. They are good tools. The impact driver has plenty of power and the drill works great too. 15 minutes to charge is awesome.

Decided to ramble about with it in the garage for a bit before drilling a few paltry holes using a dull bit as a test lol.
