Dash Material
Anyone know what type of plastic the OEM Dash Bezels are made from? I am in the middle of a custom bezel modification and I need to know if it was polyethylene, polypropylene or some other plastic.

Re: Dash Material
shouldn't there be a stamp on the back stating which material it is made of?

Also, the DPMC is on a lot of dash bezels including FoMoCo and others, so my guess is it's a mfg. I.D. The B is most likely Black... but who knows. Other than that, just a large number 2. Looks like a question for Super Keith...

Re: Dash Material
ABS. You can test by wiping some acetone on it in an inconspicuous area and seeing if the plastic starts to melt. If it does, it's ABS plastic.

Re: Dash Material
I worked in the Chevy parts plant where these were made in the late 1970s. I seem to remember large containers of black plastic beads next to the injection molding machines with the brands Delrin and Noryl. I don't know what type of plastic it was, but the beads were black and caused quite a slipping hazard on the floor when they spilled out from the containers.
