Radiator Support/Radiator Fitment Issues HELP!

I just received a new radiator support (Woodall brand) for my 69 c-10. I also ordered a 4 row retainer mounting kit. From my research, I determined I would have to do a relief cut around the bottom lip of the radiator support to allow the wider 4 row brackets to sit flush in the support.

The radiator is an Entropy LSX type specific for C10. The radiator cooling fins/surface area fits up perfect with the opening of the radiator support. Top/bottom/left/right, none of the fins are being covered by the support.

The issue is that the mounts for the top have about 3/4" gap. I don't know if I should trim the rubber, or material off the aluminum mounting tabs.

If I move the mounts over to the side of the tabs, they will fit flush, but I would need to drill new holes in the support.

Looks like you have enough clearance to trim the top and bottom support tabs enough to make the brackets fit. That way you can keep the original mounting pads. I think that's what I would do.....

I thought about this, but was worried about dropping some of the cooling fin surface area below the radiator support opening where it would not be getting air? Maybe I am worrying to much

Thumbs up Re: Radiator Support/Radiator Fitment Issues HELP!

The pictures don't look like the mounting holes line up either.

When I bought my new aluminum radiator I had a aluminum piece made to mount the top with. Did away with those backets altogether.

You can see how I attached it with one bolt on each side. The back is bent over the radiator to hold it in place.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

The mounting holes do line up, the picture I think you are referring to is showing that it would fit flush when the mount is not on the radiator tab, with the mount on the radiator tab (where it should be) they would line up. It just makes it too high (creates gap between support and bracket)

Your set up looks good

Seems like the best thing to do and I would want to use my original mounting holes if at all possible.

Re: Radiator Support/Radiator Fitment Issues HELP!

Is it just me or does anyone else note a running fitment theme with these radiators ? Is it just on the reproduction core supports or the originals also ? I mean for the cost it should just drop in and fit like a glove without any adjustments on anything wouldn't you think ? What brand have some of you bought that were around $239.00 that fit great and handle all the cooling the truck needed ? I forgot what brand it was ?

The fin offset shouldn't be a problem at all. You will still have plenty of cooling surface.

Looking at this picture I would cut the radiator mount down and do the same for the bottom if it's this tall.
Don't touch the rubber are bracket. Cut the aluminum down to where it works.
