Just wanted to know the best place to put a cross over pipe in, closer to the headers or closer to the muffler? Also would this make the muffler a little Quieter? What do you guys think.

I would say about 3 feet from the back of you collectors would be fine. Yes it will be a little quiter also.

I had my H-pipe installed to where I could drop the
tranny without having to drop the exhaust.

What I've read, and I'm not claiming to be an expert, is that you should paint a line along the exhaust behind the collector. You run the engine, and where the paint stops burning off is where you put the crossover. I don't know how much difference it makes, though.

truckster is right. where the paint burns off is where you want to put the crossover. This is where the highest pressure area is. Ideally you would install an X pipe instead of an H pipe. An H pipe only helps at low rpms. An X pipe will gain you power across the whole rpm range, quiet the exhaust note, and get rid of the droning and the rasp of a 90 degree V8.

Now that Josh has the search feature fixed (thanks Josh), do a search on this subject. Someone had a great reply and included a lot of research on 1/4 mile times and decibal levels. As I recall, the X pipe is the way to go.
