How do you test a horn?

I have tried to use a bench top charger to put 12 volts to it, but it sounds really weak. Let me know what you think.
Thx.

Re: How do you test a horn?

The horn grounds to whatever it is mounted to. If the ground is not good then the horn won't work right. Could just be time for another horn. Maybe some train horns!

I used the ground clamp off the charger, so I think I did it right. A train horn I could probably hear. I will order a new one today.hell I've replaced just about everything else, why not that as well.

I remember my dad had some train horns on a 1971 C10 and he would scare the bejesus out of people when he used the horn. There was no denying that you didn't hear that horn.

Test it on a fully charged battery. Batt. charger likely lacks needed wattage(ampacity?)!
