to cross over?..... or not.
Well, it's almost time to route exhaust. The question is... Should I run a cross over pipe? or an H pipe? or nothing? I was just going to do simple glass packs and dump it down.
What is the advantage or a cross over pipe? I'm not running crazy HP, fairly stock 350 with some headman long tube headers. Thoughts? |

Re: to cross over?..... or not.
I'm looking at doing this kit that has the crossover in it.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-89027 I have glass packs with straight pipes now, very old and rusting, and it sounds really good at idle, but going down the road it's too loud for me.

Re: to cross over?..... or not.
I did true duals on my gmc 305 v6. I believe the only reason you really need any cross over...H pipe, X pipe, ect. Is for high rpm use. Supposed to help even out the flow or something to that nature.

I think a cross over or an x-pipe will mellow the sound a bit also.

H pipe, it will equalize the exhaust pulse and retain lower end torque. you can run both straight it will work, but it is simple to put the H connection in.

Re: to cross over?..... or not.
I'm not using a kit, just going to make all my own pipe so I pretty much have free reign. Is it better to have a cross or H closer to the headers or a certain distance away? or does it not matter where.
Planned on simple glass packs and dump it straight down similar to 69chevytrucker posted above. |
