Anyone know this factory color?

The Green color is factory. I found the build sheet and only says "Special Color" and the plate on the drivers side kick panel just says "SPCL" so I have no idea what color name or code this is. It was special ordered by a Colorado Public office.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

To me it looks like "glenwood green" or possibly "neptune green"

Take a look at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=488680. Post 24 by aerotruk63 has a list of paint colors used. Also it would help to know what year truck it is on.

You can also check here http://www.xframechevy.com/1960-chevrolet-paint-chips/ they have paint chips for individual years 1960-1964

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

Looks like 503 green to me, which was probably the most common colour used. That's what's on my truck.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

That "special color" on the build sheet and kick panel means just that. Dealers had a book of non-standard colors that were available for fleet purchases. Lots of commercial service vehicles or municipal maintenance trucks were painted this way.
I'm not sure if anyone around here has one of those special color books or not, but it would be neat to see.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

Yes it would be nice to see the special colours.

The 503 seems to have been used for more than one colour over the years. Mine was for the year 1966.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

Just like oem4me said, special means special
I have a 65 K-10 which was ordered new by the Va Dept of Forestry.
I luckily found out from a Forestry employee the original color is actually the color of Avery farm tractors made back in the days of steel wheels. Crazy why that color was picked, but true.
Here's the tractor with the color.
That's one of those things I never would have figured out on my own.
Dupont color # 77161DH

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

Yeah it does look like Glenwood Green to me but it seems a little off. It is a 1966 BBW non custom cab with Deluxe interior and a slew of other factory options.

It has a factory looking stamped hole in the roof (Where a light or siren was mounted?) and a little grommet for wire pass-through on the back of the cab and an odd looking spotlight with a mirror on the backside.

If kick panel tag says SPCL, it must have been a special order fleet color. Here is a similar Ford pickup, same situation, Ford left their color codes blank if it was a special order color.http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...at-covers.html

What year is the truck?

It sure does look like what I have been putting on mine. I'll try and post a pic later.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

Definitely NOT woodland green. It's much too dark. IMO, don't waste your money on it because it won't be the same.

My Canadian truck had if I remember it right code 500 or maybe 500C. The last part is kind of missing. When I had the box off it looked just like yours. The rest of the truck has got a bit more of a blue haze in it. I have been painting pieces of it with mixed 503 green paint in a can from a body shop and comparing it to the un-faded portion at the back of the cab my son and I agreed it was the same. I've used two different sources for the paint. The two part stuff has to be mixed really well because there always seems to be a separate tint of blue floating around in it.

Re: Anyone know this factory color?

I had a GMC special colors fan deck. Gave it away to a buddy of mine. I'll have to go by and see if he still has it.
