A big hello, and video updates!
Its been many months since I've been to the board. Seems sometimes you have to give up an addiction to make some progress...LOL
First, my apologies to anyone who had to wait on filler patches. I will refund the cost to anyone who was inconvenienced by a wait. Also I can not supply anymore filler patches at this time. At the time I decided to do the videos I was going to use my own cab (had a few rusty ones to choose from) so I could work at my own pace and not be bothered my someone who needed their cab done at any certain time. I was contacted by several people to use thier cabs for the project but gracefully turned down the offers. Then I was contacted by a fellow board member who told me of his cab. It seems it was rather rusted throughout. He stated because his father had bought the truck new, he wanted to preserve the originality of the truck where possible, after all the essence of the truck is the cab and frame (matching #'s) so he didn't want to change cabs. He also insured me he was in no hurry and I could take my time (I thought , sure, I've heard that before) and he has been true to his word. Now comes the part where it has taken quite a bit of time. When he brought it to me, he was right , it was real rusty. When he opened the right door it nearly fell off. the "A" pillar had rusted away at the kick panel and front cab support. The cowl area under the A/C box area, behind the glove box was rusted through. Actually ther was a lot of metal gone around the cowl area and many of these pieces had to be hand made. He also came up with a very rare find - a set, right and left, complete roof to rocker "A" pillar assemblies. They looked brand new except for 30 years of dust on them. If ever there was a truck that warranted the replacement of these beauties, it was this truck. So rather than just film the areas where most of our cabs need repairs, I have taken this unique opportunity to show these and other areas such as using some parts from "donar" cabs. This project is nearing completion. I have many, many hours of footage of the rust repairs on this truck and am beginning editing. I must say I feel there has been a spiritual presence with me as I've worked on this truck. I found several coins hidden in the bottom of this cab. I imagined them falling from the pockets of the board member's father while they were riding together. I collected them up and put them in a little bag and gave them to the owner/board member. I feel it is not my place to reveal the boardmember's name or the details of our business( he may come forward if he wants to )but I will take the opportunity to share with the board many of the still shots of the project. I'll be updating the website with these pics but wanted to share them with the board first Let me do some resizing and I'll start posting pics tonite. Any in particular you want to see first? Good to be back after a long break |

let me be the first to welcome you back to the board ebfabman. I look forward to your vids & the like. As for what I'd like to see first in terms of rot repair, I think the major nightmare of the rear crossmember & all the rot they recieve & all the parts that seem to come together there. The rear cab corners, the rear outer cabfloors, the cab supports & any under-tank rot would be great to see. Welcome back!

WELCOME BACK! is good to see you around once again, thought you left us for good, looking forward to see those videos you've been working on and I know they will come in handy for all of us that are into fixing up these old trucks ourselves, without having to pay utrageous body work fees and having the satisfaction of doing it on our own.

ebfabman Good to see you back! To all the new board members who do not know who this man is, this is a metal working god. You will learn so much from him. Everyone please look at his website and order his video when it is done. Again good to see you back and can't wait for the vids.
When do you expect to have them edited? I would think I could talk the wife into these for Christmas. Also, I do some videography on the side, so if you need any help hollar! I can do anything from simple editing to complex 3D graphics. Let me know. Chad

Welcome back! I was just asking about you a couple weeks ago on a thread where someone wondered if there was a video of welding in patch panels.
Sounds like you found a good donor cab to show whatever we may come across, Thanks for all the hard work on this project, Don |

Glad to see you are still with us. I would like to see what you had to start with first. From there, go to the parts that you would do first if you were doing this resto for yourself, and then work your way through in the order you would. Let us know when the videos are ready since I know a copy would definately help my metal/body working skills.

I am the lucky person to have Earl doing his voodoo on my truck I know some of you may know that I have a 72 that was bought new by my parents and when I turned 16 my father gave it to me .Well that was about 15 years ago and I have been gathering parts ever since. However the truck has/had it share of rust.I had contacted a few of the shops that thought could handle a project like this but none of them wanted to.Like many others told me,they also said I would be better off finding a better cab.So after a few years of trying to find someone to take this project on I bought a nice AZ cab from board member CPNE (Jeff J.)but still wasnt really hip on changing the cab for the sentimental reasons of it.Not that anything is wrong with doing it,but to me it seemed as it wouldn't be the same truck.I had seen picture of Earl's work but never really thought that he would tackle it either. One night I said I have nothing to loose by asking so I contacted him. He told me of the cab that was going to use for his video and after I contacted him we made an agreement he said my truck would be perfect demo with all the rusted areas it had to use for the video. He said that he was pretty sure he could fix it unless something was real bad in cowl area.We came up with an agreement and I went down about a month ago and he was about done with pass. side which was the worst of the two.
I must say that I was alittle scared of taking my truck out of town and giving it to someone I barely knew.Earl is a great guy to deal with and I am 100% happy with the whole deal as of now. Earl, thanks again. Ray

Glad your back. I thought the board was going to get together and pay $50 to find anyone in the US. I don't know how good they would do looking for Ebfabman though.
