18" tire and wheel recomendations

I'm finally starting to put my '68 C10 Fleetside back together. I'm running an ECE 4/6 drop and have converted to 5 lug front and back with 71/72 discs in the front and a 71/72 rear end assy.
I know that I shouldn't even consider tires and wheels until I get it all back together, so I can measure, but I want to start looking now and be ready if I find a good deal.

What size wheel and tire combos are you guys (and gals) running on similar trucks. I'd like 17' or 18" wheels and tires with enough sidewall so they don't ride like a rock. I am particularly interested in getting the correct backspacing so they fit in the wheel wells right. I also understand that the 71/72 rear is a little wider than the stock '68.

This truck will be a daily driver so it has to be usable but we all know that the "stance" is most important.

Look for a minimum of 45 series sidewalls or taller. I think there are a couple of manufacturers that make 'tallish' 18's. a 245/45 would be a decent size front & 285/50 or 295/45 out back would fill up the ol' wheelwells. Up front, 8 " & out back 9.5"s, both w/about 5" bspacing.

To be exact, you need to do the dirtywork & take your own measurements from your application. If you have stock wheels that fit, you can add to b.spcace w/some styrafoam(sp?) or wood to check interference.

These are 255/45/18 up front (18x8) and 285/40 in the rear (18x9.5)

I am running 255/55/18's and they fit very well and fill the wheel well rather nicely.

Josh - What drop are do you have on your truck and what wheels and backspacing are you using? Do you have any pictures?
Slammed 67 - Your truck looks great. I like the stance and the way the wheel wells are filled. I'm not sure how your bagged stance compares to my 4/6 drop. Do you remember what backspacing your wheels are?
Scoti - Thanks for the input. I know I should do the measuring my self but it will be a while before I get the body and the bed back on and I'd like to get wheels before that. I have to find someone who has exactly the same combination as I do and see what they are using. I thought it would be a pretty common set up. I like your friends wheels/tiresand I do travel to DFW quite often (I was there this week) but I can't see taking them back on the plane with me.

Mine are 4.5" up front and 5.25" in the rear. Keep in mind that my truck is a '67 but has a 5-lug rear end (71-72) and '72 disk brakes up front.

68C10.... I just don't want you to fall victim to the assumption if it fits one.... it fits all theory. Your doing the right thing in gathering as much info as possible about sizes on similar combos.... just be sure & measure your truck before purchasing anything.

Another suggestion..... I'm on my 3rd set of wheels/tires for my 67. My last purchase of 3K worth of 18's/20's sat around the garage for almost 2yrs before finally seeing daylight..... on my 74!!!!!! Don't get them until your ready.

None of the 67 that I can post. Besides.... the wheels are on my 74 now. I figured I would get some use out of them before they dry rotted.
