Factory correct retainers for windshield wash hoses?

71-C10

By chance anyone have images?

Also, any recommendations where to find correct hose lines? I believe the inside diameter is 5/32" to the pump and 7/32" coming out. Auto Zone had nothing and Napa's are too fat. That and the original has a ridge on either side of the hose. Edit: WRONG........Half the length of the hose has ridges, they're just taller on the outside. Damn my eyes. Too late.

Thank you

I can't really help with the hose. I'm not sure where I got mine. Maybe Classic Industries or LMC. The OD was a bit large, and it was a tight fit through the firewall grommets to the nozzles. Certainly not NCRS caliber correct.

I'm not sure what you mean by retainers, but I'll take a guess. On my 69, the hose from the bottle to the pump was strapped to the wire harness that runs to the radiator support with 2 white nylon straps. No zip ties back then. The wire harness and hose were run from the firewall then between the inner and outer fenders. It was attached to the backside of the outer fender through a hole just above the inner fender via a barb taped to the harness with the harness "tape". Below are pictures showing the straps on my 69 with the bottle on the core support. If you look closely at the first picture you can also see the black barb above the tire near the strap closest to the firewall. The 10 or 12 gauge red wire is the hot wire from the battery for the optional camper harness. I doubt you have that.

Here's another pic showing the hoses lying in the channel below the firewall wire gutter.

Re: Factory correct retainers for windshield wash hoses?

Thanks for the info, and the great description as usual Jim. I thought I'd read somewhere clips were used near the firewall gutter.

I don't recall mine ever having any clips.

EDIT: Here are a couple pictures from the assembly manual. No clips shown. This is early in the manual and apparently is for 1967s.
With your attention to detail, you'd love the assembly manual!

No doubt about it, I need to use it more often. A bit difficult to use, but it works.

No straps like those eBay straps anywhere on my truck, ever.

These are close or the same. Only question is dimensions.

Better, thanks Jim. I ordered that and their hoses. Another $36 bites the dust. Edit: I'll let you know on those dimensions, if interested.

The wide lock portion of their strap is 1 1/8" x 3/8". The strap portion is 3/8", and they're 5 1/8" end to end. Judging by your pictures Jim, I'd say the width is smaller. If they're wrong I'll use them baring another option.

Their hose lines are the correct dimensions, and also have ridges along half the length similar the originals. I didn't bother to measure them, because the hose to the pump is way too short. I'm such an IDIOT JK, sorta. Guess I was hoping for enough hose it wouldn't make a difference. I should have at least looked up the Corvette. I'm guessing the washer bottle is just a TAD closer. $10 error by the time I Ebay em, but I deserve it.

Re: Factory correct retainers for windshield wash hoses?

docrebuild is really the way to go. other vendors have nors hoses but they may be too big both in internal diameter and in external diameter. your truck looks good. dont waste time and money dickin around with vendors who have a big advertising budget. It might even be worth it to join ncrs just to hook up with the vendors who have the correct detail stuff you need.
