Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Ok, so I have a 1972 blazer. The nut hold the Power steering Pulley on backet off and ate up key way.
The pulley is part number 3993325DJ. I ordered what I thought would work from Summit. The part came looked good but on inspection it has a more shallow offset and sits about 1/2" forward. I have looked on summit and have searched but I can not find one that replaces the pulley number 3993325DJ. Does anyone have a good current production replacement number. I can not find one as of yet. Thanks Rob

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I needed one of these for my K10 and I never could find a new pulley that fit. I bought from two different places (that same Summit pulley was one; Alan Grove Components was the other) and neither worked out, and nowhere could I find the proper part. The AGC guys were even stumped, and they work with SBC pulleys all the time. What I determined was that (I'm pretty sure, anyway) the 4x4 pulleys are different from the 2WD versions, for whatever reason.
So: Either find a P/S 4x4 sitting in a junkyard that you can cannibalize, or do what I did and post a WTB ad in the classifieds for that pulley number. I found one within a day or two that way.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Seems to be contagious. Same thing happened to me a 2 weeks ago. Chewed up pulley key-hole on 72 4x4 suburban, caused wobble and chattering (almost like loose rocker). I ordered part# W-395 from Summit, and not a correct fit. It specified chevelle or monte carlo application, which I assumed would be same... but I was wrong. Had different offset as mentioned above.
I see that (2) places, LMC and TruckandCarShop, list replacement single & double groove pulleys in their catalog, and neither contain notation that a 2wd or 4wd would be different in design. Before I step into ordering from one of these places, I figured I'd ping this thread, to see if anyone has gotten a pulley from one of these suppliers and had luck on a 4wd model? LMC lists $19.99 for the single grove pulley, which seems very reasonable.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I have had to use a double grove pulley before to get the belt right. The inside grove is closer and will probably be in the right place for you.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I might have an extra pump at my place I'll have to look once I get home from work today. I believe it's a single groove pulley, but it's got the nut and keyed shaft.ill let you know.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I called LMC and asked them to measure the offset on that pulley, which they said they would do. I never heard back - typical for my experiences with LMC. At this point I just use their catalog as reference for what to order from somewhere else.
I started a thread several months back when I was looking for mine, and asked 4x4 guys to list their pulley number compared with the 2WD trucks, due to my hunch that they were different... everyone with a 4x4 ended up with that same 3993325DJ number. I did wonder if the double-groove pulley would work in a pinch, but wanted to keep it all factory, so I found a used one.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Yeah I am not sure about the double groove or not? I was hoping to find one off the shelf. There are a ton of different suppliers for 2wd/car style as mentioned but no one list them for the 4x4 number 3993325DJ
I will go digging in the yards soon!

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I better hold off on an order, and stick to hunting down a used pulley 3993325DJ (as mine is labeled as well). Thanks for the insight guys.

I could use one also. Hopefully someone finds a source for these pulleys.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I looked through some of my stuff. I have a single groove with keyed hub part # 3860457cv. I have 2 double groove w/keyed hubs. I don't have the part# of them yet but here are photos.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
The part # on the flat single groove pulley is 3925537DC this part will work on a 4x4 but requires a 4 groove crank pulley I used this setup on my 72 GMC K1500 till I switched motors I had a single groove pulley off of [I think] a late 60's Buick with just a little to much offset so I put a 1/16" shim behind the pulley which leaves just enough room for the nut this setup allowed me to use a 3 groove crank pully alt-AC-ps inner to outer

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I was one of the people who posted in joeys thread. My k/20 pulley is the same part number you need. It definitely seems to be a 4x4 only part. I too would suggest a want to buy add because there's no guessing or risk involved. You'll know your getting the right part.

Here's what they look like on a 2wd truck. 3770509CL with the letter P stamped opposite of the first number.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
For reference to future readers, I've added pictures of the 3993325DJ single grove pulley off a 72 4wd truck or suburban w/AC and 350sbc. Notice when comparing to the 2wd flavor listed in this thread, the 4wd pulley has an offset back towards the pump, just slightly.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Sorry I should have been more specific, my K/20 uses the same pulley but I do not have one for sale. Sorry.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
You may want to give Alan Grove a call, they list their part# 515 as an offset PS pulley matching the inner groove of a double pulley. I think this is what I purchased for my 72 Blazer 4wd, but I just can't recall.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Minnz, I believe I talked with the Alan Grove guys about that part and for whatever reason it didn't work on my truck. But maybe it was just that they weren't sure, and I didn't want to order ANOTHER wrong part... it's been a few months (which for my memory is about a decade)...

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
I bent mine in an accident. Rolled down to the local Pep Boys and they had one (chrome Blows) right in the chrome section. Fit right on and lined up good just chrome. I painted it black and went on about my driving.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Yeah I have not found one yet. I am still looking. As many have noted the number I have 3993325DJ has about a 1/4" rear offset and seems to be a 72 4x4 non AC Set up with a 2 grove pulley.
There are many options for the pulley with less rear ward offset but nothing I have found to match this... I will try calling Alan Grove, but I have read 2 other post where they did not seem to have the right offset.

Re: Help Finding Power Steering Pulley!!!
Elks,
I just recently located a correct part# used pulley from a outfit in Arizona, with correct part number. You might want to try too. Maybe you'll have luck. http://www.aspenautoaz.com/ I am not familiar with the place, so who knows if they have another or not. As far as other routes, I went in circles (no luck) trying to find a new pulley that is a direct fit, and with confidence it would be the correct one sight-unseen. No Pep Boys in my area, but struck out finding a pulley at any of the NAPA, Auto Zone or Oreilly's in town. I too called Alan Grove early last week, with no luck. The salesman claimed all pulleys same for 1972 SBC chevys (camaros, chevelle's, trucks, etc), with no way to link a GM part number. I did not want to order and make the same mistake I made with my order through Summit Racing # W-395.Hopefully some day someone will be able to post a good reliable source for a brand new pulley that is a direct fit.

I am giving them a shot. I might know where one is located out in a field but I have never had much luck convincing someone to sell off parts like that... Finger crossed. I looked and the 2 groves (which I had one in my shop) Sit about as far back as the new ones sit forward. Wish I was a better machinist and I could just make one lol.
