Condenser Upgrade/R134 conversion
I plan on using the factory AC in my 66 during my build. When I operated it years ago, I believe I remember it being cold but not a whole lot of airflow. So, to save money I decided to stay with it.
I still have a supply of R12 so I was going to continue to use that. I upgraded to one of those A-6 replacement aluminum compressors that bolt in directly, (brand new). Now, I am looking at a more efficient condenser in addition to converting to R134. I'm wondering how successful you guys have been in converting? |

I used a condenser out of a 90"s cavalier I believe, I just went to carquest with measurements and ordered the one with the biggest surface area that would fit.

Re: Condenser Upgrade/R134 conversion
I have recently converted my '86 and retained the stock condenser. I'm not sure what the 60-66 condensers are like but I assume they are also tube and fin and likely about the same size. I'm very well pleased with how my A/C works. Probably not as hot here as you get but a ton more humid. I was getting around 40* air out of the vents on a 90 or so degree afternoon and that is with an R4 compressor. I've heard the A6 is a lot better.
