Rear 02 sensors in headers

This might sound dumb but my 02 sensors are pointing out to the side and going to hit the frame. Can I cut them out and weld them back in from the top or will that affect the way they work?

Re: Rear 02 sensors in headers

You really don't need the rear ones. They would need to be tuned out tho. They are also to be after cats so they won't read correctly if you don't have then placed after the converters. But if they are the front ones yes they can be moved so they don't interfere.

Re: Rear 02 sensors in headers

OK thanks.
I got my wiring harness and ECU from PSI and did away with the other stuff. Thought I needed the rear ones to make it run right.

Re: Rear 02 sensors in headers

my understanding is that in the new cars they check the function of the cats. If they are not doing their job properly then they will show a code. They are also used for the smoggers. I understand they can just plug into the computer and look to make sure you have not done away with the cats and all is functioning.
Most of the swaps do away with the cats as well as the rear o2 sensors. The front ones do give feedback and control to the computers. They can also be tuned out but most don't recommend getting rid of them.
Good luck

Re: Rear 02 sensors in headers

Oops, my bad I ment the front two in the rear of the headers. I forgot there four altogether. I eliminated the two in the rear.
