So many types of white WTF

Okay I see that GM has two types of whites in 1973 classic white and antique white I don't know which would be best for the side of my truck which white did GM use for 73 74 75 C10.... reason for The Rush is because my truck is in the shop now getting body work done and preparing for paint and I want to make sure I get the correct paint

I think the classic white came on the flashy colors and the antique may have came on some brown or tan trucks. Of course you could custom order whatever you wanted. I painted my stripe neutral because i didn't like the bright white with the russet paint.

If its in the body shop they can tell you what white it is. If not, get a new bodyshop. If your just trying to decide for a whole re-paint, pick what you like.

Re: So many types of white WTF

Odd that you should mention that. My 83 C20 was the original "earth tone" brown with tan popular in the 80s. The previous owner had it sprayed a sort of antique white. I will be getting it painted after the side molding mounting holes are filled in. I used some Home Depot rattle can Rustoleum 2X gloss white paint over primer to cover up the tan and brown stripe exposed where the original moldings were. I taped off and painted the rear corners of the bed and it looks very nice. (Maybe I will review the numerous rattle can auto paint jobs on YouTube.

I have purchased a lot of GM pickups and SUVs in the past 16 years and most of them were "summit white," which is what GM now uses for all of their white vehicles. It is a very bright white and is used on all of the commercial vehicles in the southwest due to the sun baking off any other colors in a few years. I will be getting a cheap paint job, probably urethane, without clearcoat (which flakes off quickly down here) and I will try to get as close to summit white as I can.

Re: So many types of white WTF

Thanks guys for the replies.... i went to the ppg in temecula and they nailed it.... it is 521 classic white.... but its non metallic... im painting the truck light olive metallic so now i have to find a classic white paint in metallic or a white metallic that's comprable to classic white......urgh. but the good thing is I only paid $2,500 for the truck it came with a rebuilt 350 700 R4 Transmission pretty solid truck no rust and had an undercoating put on it from the original owner I have the paperwork I did have some rust on the floor boards which I already replaced other than that the truck is pretty solid I'm just excited that it's getting body work done to get painted

Can't the body shop just add flake to your 521 paint?

They can, but I wouldnt. Unless you want to have a hard time matching it if thats ever necessary, use straight colors. I'm not sure why you want a metallic white, but Lexus has one that doesnt look creamy.
