Quick response steering box for a 65

Hi guys, been reading and reading but can't come up with an answer. Can somebody tell me what quick response steering box will interchange with my 5 turn lock to lock power steering? Hoping this animal exists to where nothing else has to be changed. Thanks in advance Mike.

A variable ratio steering box was available but I do not know how to ID it other than is the truck has that option on the SPID. Tho other option that some other members have done, is order a quicker ratio box from someone like Redhead Steering.

I think after a certain year... '73 or so they were all variable ratio gearbox that was 3.25 lock to lock. Can't confirm the year though.

Re: Quick response steering box for a 65

When I researched a quick ratio box, one thing I learned is that the quick box can make straight line driving a bit awkward because the continual minor corrections needed to maintain an even keel become more pronounced.

The 5 turn lock to lock is just not user friendly on U turns, parking lots etc. I'm not giving up. I want something with the least amount of modifications.

If your using an updated box now, like using Captainfabs bracket etc. You can find the quick ratio box at Classic Performance Parts (CPP). Other than telling us it's on a 65 there isnt much else to go on in your post as far as stock, upgraded or ? ...
