Alternative hood brace for 2nd gen 55
I finally tried fitting the hood on my 55 pick-up (2nd gen). The brace hits the intercooler duct and looks like it will hit the radiator if I could close it any further. Is there anything out there already available, or can someone please share their solution. Did I mention it's Cummins powered?

Another idea to stop the notorious oil canning of 55/56 hoods. I bought a 57 sedan brace from Danchuk and modified to fit. With the addition of a nutsert, bolts off/on for adding sponge pad.

What ever you come up with leave some way for adjustment. The stock cross brace is not a true X, the sections are bent to give the guys on the assembly line a way to adjust the hood diagonally.

Re: Alternative hood brace for 2nd gen 55
Seems like the one I have is off-set to the passenget side already, but not near enough. I have two (rusty) hoods, so I'll check them all. The hood brace for the front hinged hood kit might be as option as well. I'm sure I'll figure something out - pretty much every part has been massaged one way or the other on this thing. Maybe some small tubing and rod ends - that would be adjustable.

Upon further review - every brace I have (all three of them) have the intersection near the center. Guess I don't have a six-cylinder (offset) brace to try.
