Correct Master Cylinder?

Hey all,

I apologize up front if this question has already been vetted on here, but I have been searching the threads high and low and can't seem to find the best answer. I have a 65 Burb 4x4 and the previous owner swapped the front and rear axles from a 72 Blazer (I believe), with front disc and rear drum. The brakes did not work, so I plan start from scratch and replace pretty much all of the brake components (master cylinder, hoses, lines, calipers and pads, p valve, rotors, lines, etc.). The hydraulics are manual (no booster), and my plan is to keep it manual and just swap new, correct parts. The question I have is, since it is a manual system, should I be using a MC from a 69-70 or a 71-72? From my research, it seems that the 71-72 MC should be used in conjunction with booster and therefore I should use a MC from 69-70 instead? The attached picture is the manual setup installed by the previous owner, so I am not sure it is correct since it did not work. I believe this is a 71-72 MC. Thanks so much!

You will need a '71-'72 master cylinder or a '73+ for manual brakes. The '69-'70 master would have to be for a K series with front disc brakes. What you have there is what I have typically seen on '71-'72 trucks.

I know someone who put discs on his car and he really had to stomp on it until finally installing the booster.

You have to use a mc for front dics brakes, if it's 4x4 only one for a 4x4. You can use a boosted mc and hook it up as a manual, but it won't work as well.
