5.7 vortec with HEI distributor ?

Hi all, so I'm finally replacing that tired 350 with a 5.7 vortec that came of a 99 suburban. I decided to make it carburated just for simplyfing purposes. I got an an intake manifold on ebay for $150 and probably gonna keep the quadrajet carb for daily driving reasons. My question is, do I need to change the gear drive on the hei distributor? cause I tried using the one that came with the vortec engine but it's a different diameter shaft. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
