Fuel Tank relocation

I have a 67 c10 Long bed that I recently had the fuel tank removed from behind the seat to under the bed behind the rear axle. The fuel cap sticks out from the side of the truck about 4". The tank was mounted under the frame with straps that are about 2" short on one side. I have not been able to fill the tank with out slowly squeezing the trigger on the pump. I am concerned about the tank being inches above the ground with nothing to protect it. Should I be concerned?

Re: Fuel Tank relocation

Personally I wouldn't like that at all, way to close to the ground and I don't like how it fits neither. I also bought a relocation kit and personally will probably not even try putting it in my frame cause I don't like how it even looks sitting in the box, cheap and cheesy. There are some good looking tanks out there and I personally will be purchasing one of them. Do a search on the forum here and you will see some good looking relocation kits

Re: Fuel Tank relocation

I would change that set up too! It looks badly done and way too close to the ground.

Now that I plan to build my own tool box, I am not so concerned about the gas tank behind the seat. If I ever do relocate my tank, I'll have a custom tank made and try to use the side marker light as a fuel filler location.

This may be an option also, measure your height from the top of the mounting flange to top of tank then from top of frame to bottom of bed and see if there is enough clearance to relocate the relocation

I have seen some nice looking kits and installs. Unfortunately for me, mine is not one of those. I am in the process of having these issues corrected.
