55 SWB body- no chasssis
OK guys, I just picked up a 55 SWB, big window complete body with one piece fiberglass bed. Truck has no frame/chassis. I have skills and not afraid to tackle on something. Not looking to break the bank either but want to get it up and running and work on it at the same time. What is the best choices from your experiences? Is the 73-87 frame swap an option or is the front track width a concern? I want it lowered but not slammed.
Any guidance, where else to look-- anything would be some help. Thanks. |

Re: 55 SWB body- no chasssis
That is awesome to hear about the truck!! 73-87 Frame done work but the wheels will stick out far for my liking but it does work. Work better for a 58-59 though.. There is also a trail blazer works for a chassis too, which a few ppl have done here..
If i was doing it, I'd build the chassis out of tubing because really the frame is totally straight. All you have to do is figure out the cab mounts which you could find by looking up the hertiage chassis into google for the truck. Than either run a m2 front end or a vette. If i was doing it again, that is what i would do.. Really it comes down to what your good at building and what you want to spend and find.. |

First of all welcome aboard. Second we need pictures...
Oh buy the way I ended up building mine out of 2x4 tubing and using Vette suspension. Lots of builds on here to read and get different ideas. Good luck. Don't forget the pictures.

The C4 suspension seems like a great option, and those cars are good for much else!
