Removing plywood bed floor

I'm going Thru the process of removing my wood bed. At some point someone put a 2-piece plywood floor on it. I want to do it without removing the whole bed if I can. I figure I have to basically cut out the wood where the bed sides mount to it and Then remove all the wood? Or would just disassembling the bed be easier

Sorry, it's attached with the steel strips on top of the plywood and bolting thru the cross members like usual. I was under there unbolting everything before I realized the bed sides were bolted thru the wood too.

Re: Removing plywood bed floor

Seems to me the eaiest would be just to remove all the bolts holding it in place and slide it out.

Re: Removing plywood bed floor

it can be done with the bed on if you really don't want to remove it . normally it is done with the bed off and front panel removed. support the bed with four jack stands ,one on each corner.remove all bolts attaching wood.get a circular saw and set the blade depth very slightly less than the thickness of the plywood.Cut a 2" strip out of the center of the plywood , you will have to finish the last 6" or so on either end with a die grinder or small hand saw . be carefull not to cut any metal. by the way the cut is made front to back. break out the center strip of wood you cut , and pull out the side pieces. Pain the ass but can be done.

Re: Removing plywood bed floor

this is of course assuming that the PO used tongue and groove plywood.

Re: Removing plywood bed floor

It's definitely not tongue and groove lol, it was just a cheap base so they could rhino line it I think. But thank you and it looks like I need to grab a friend and pull this bed off the truck
