Questions about shortbed replacement panels

Can you assemble a COMPLETE 81-87 shortbed from new replacement parts?

If not , how close can you get? Is it worth the aggravation?

Can it be as strong with suspect materials that panels are made from currently?

I appreciate any input.

Thank
Desert

Re: Questions about shortbed replacement panels

You could find a nice complete GM shortbed for less than what you would spend on inferior new aftermarket parts to build one...and be MUCH happier.

I am having a hard time finding any "Rust Free" shortbeds in the northeast rustbelt, Guess I'll keep looking.

Thanks,

Buying a complete truck and paying transport fees would be worth it compared to piecing together everything aftermarket. Even a seasoned body tech would cuss having to do that. Then you could sell off rust free extra parts to recoup some of the money.

Don't limit your search to the NE. Half the fun of building an old ride it the parts hunt, and adventures that go along with them. Look S/SW...make a fun little road trip out of it. Don't build with your blinders on.

Contact bL.A.zer90045 about a complete bed. He lives in New Mexico but has a lot of parts and is willing to deliver (for a price).
