Tips on swapping rear axle on 57 chevy
Looking for disc breaks something close to a 3.08 gear or 3.27, I need a track width of about 61 inches, Any tips or ideas i got a 5 bolt 4.5 bolt pattern from a crown vic on the front from a 2004. Just looking to get rid of the 3.99 gears on the old motor for some okay 55+ mph. I was thinking of swapping to a c4 rear end but it seems like alot of welding for not much gain on a old truck for independent suspension all the way around, think it would ride nice like that. Let me know what you think. Im got a t5 trans with a .86 od with the 235 chevy i6 in it. Should be doing about 2k at 60 with a 3 ish rear end

The ford explorer 8.8 is 59 and a half inches wide,A 71-73 mustang/cougar is 61.25 but those came with rear drums but a disc swap kit is easy to do.Those are the only two i know close to the width you need and lug pattern.
