Seat belt is jammed -- 1977 GMC Sierra Classic

I didn't see any solutions to this in the seat belts threads other than "The advice I'd give is that if your seat belt needs repair, then replace it."

My driver's side seat belt is jammed. I can't pull the belt out and across my lap. It worked fine all day and at 5 pm when I parked, but 5 hours later it was stuck.

Is the ratchet gear stuck? Could I have dislodged something when I folded the bench seat forward? Any tricks to fix this?

Frown...this is my first "but it used to work" thing on the truck.

Re: Seat belt is jammed -- 1977 GMC Sierra Classic

this is the wrong section for this thread it will have to be moved.

my 77 also had this same problem. it would get stuck after pulling the belt out about 6 inches. i would have to use a pocket knife or screw driver to reach into the slot and turn the roll so it retracted the seat belt. then it would be fine untill next time it locked up. hope this helps.
