Carb selection
74 C10 350 w/Carter Quadrajet carb. Not satisfied with gas milage, around 9 to 11 mpg. Carb may need rebuilt. Mulling over whether to rebuild or get a 600 cfm Edelbrock. Are there any suggestions?

Probably not the best move for mileage. You'll need to adapt an eddy to your intake. You'll spend a few hundred and likely get the same or worse mileage!
Tune the wazoo out of what you got first!! What's your timing curve like? |

the best bet for mileage is having your quyadrajet rebuilt and the motor properly tuned my edelbrock 650 had a note on the box that its not meant for any kind of emissions standards in any state so if emissions are high I am sure mileage is low

Without knowing your tire size, rear end ratio, or transmission info 3 or 4 speed. mileage doesn't sound that bad. IMO

A properly setup Qjet is the best carb for a daily driver type of truck. Trick is finding someone that can do a good job.
+1 to Desert's comments on drive train. My 75 350/TH350 with 3.42 rear end gets between 12 and 14mpg highway depending on speed. Just over 12 @ 70, 14 around 60. Point distributor or HEI? Not sure of final year for points. |
