Did u buy new door panels? Like them?

I want to replace my red interior door panels. They are solid, just aged, and the plastic is breaking down.

I've looked through all the suppliers, and tried to find reviews. I found one review, and it wasn't glowing.

I've found some that are black, but you have to paint them. I've found some that say "not reproductions"...well, if their not originals, what the heck else are they if not repros? Anyway, can't quite seem to put my finger on a set that gives me warm fuzzies.

Hoping to hear from someone who bought a set, and can say "Buy these, you won't regret it".

1977 Stepside, Cheyenne trim.

Re: Did u buy new door panels? Like them?

Trying to figure this out myself for my '79 k5. Mine have some reproduction panels that are starting to crack. They seem to be a harder material than the originals? And they are the panels for the custom deluxe and mine is Cheyenne trim. Been watching the junkyards but expect it's hard to find door panels that aren't already cracked.

Re: Did u buy new door panels? Like them?

Got mine from LMC also, like Chris. Can't say enough good things about them.

These new replacement door panels (not reproductions of the originals) are made from brand new tooling to more exacting standards than previously available. These door panels are manufactured from molded, heat-resistant plastic and then painted in the available colors. The paint is mixed with an ultraviolet inhibitor to help prevent damage from the exposure to sunlight.

Door panels are sold in sets of two and include pre-attached window weatherstrips.

Door Panels have precut holes for window handle, power window switch, power door door lock switch and door panel trim. Easy-to-follow illustrated instructions detailing this process are included.

LMC Exclusive Replacement Door Panel Sets accept all your original accessories or you may purchase new ones.

Door Panels are designed to accept:
Door pockets.
Door panel trim sets.
Door pull straps.
Door handle bezels.
Original armrests can be re-used or you can replace with a new set.

Re: Did u buy new door panels? Like them?

I bought coverlay doorpanels from Classic Industries. I put them on 5 years ago. They are definetly not built as nicely as the OG GM parts. They have a wood block under the door pull cup. The tan color wasn't a good match to the dashpad, but they tell you the color is approximate. They looked ok...but I was never 100% convinced. I still use my truck like a truck about half the weekends of the year, people ride in the truck, and most of the time, it is parked in the hot Southern California sun. My driver's door has developed a slight crack midway on top, next to the door fuzzy. I am not that happy with them...but what are you gonna do?

I also have the LMC door panels. They fit great, and have been on for about 1 1/2 years now and still look new.
