Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
If you are thinking about lowering your C10 truck more than four inches in the rear, a longer trac-bar will be a necessity! The Porterbuilt Fully Adjustable Trac-bar has an overall length of just over 34 inches. The longer the bar, the less side to side shift the differential will experience through suspension travel. The new mounting brackets also relocate the bar lowering the rear roll-center, and the bar length can be tuned while still mounted on the truck!
STEP 1: REMOVE FACTORY COMPONENTS Remove the factory trac-bar and mounting bracket on the driver side frame rail. This requires removing the factory rivets. There are several ways to remove the factory rivets. We like to use an air hammer and air chisel, but you can also use a grinder with a cutoff wheel and drill them out.

Re: Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
STEP 2: INSTALL TRAC-BAR MOUNTING BRACKET
The new mounting bracket will sit flush against the outside of the frame rail and will be located using the front two factory rivet holes on the bottom frame rail. It may be necessary to slightly enlarge or ream the rivet holes for proper fitment. Once the bracket is properly located, drill the remaining mounting holes. Install the bracket using the supplied 7/16” grade 8 hardware. Tighten all bolts securely (torque specs for 7/16” grade 8 bolts is 52 lbs). Locate the bracket using the front two factory rivet holes on the bottom of the frame.

Re: Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
Remove the passenger side rear shock and u-bolt.
Slide the passenger side trac-bar bracket over the trailing arm as pictured. Re-install the shock and u-bolt using the existing factory hardware or the upgraded Porterbuilt u-bolt and hardware. Note: It may be necessary to remove the shock for ease of installation.

Re: Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
STEP 4: INSTALL THE DRIVER’S SIDE SHIM
Remove the driver side shock and u-bolt. Install the shim on the driver side trailing arm, between the trailing arm and the trailing arm mounting pad. This will space the rearend evenly on each side. Re-install the shock and u-bolt using the existing factory u-bolt and hardware or upgraded Porterbuilt u-bolt and hardware.

Re: Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
STEP 5: INSTALL THE TRAC-BAR ASSEMBLY
The trac-bar has both right and left hand threaded tube inserts on each end of the bar, making length adjustments quick and easy. Install the rod ends into the bar. The bar end with the line has the left hand threads. YOU MUST USE A THREAD LUBRICANT, SUCH AS ANTI-SIEZE, WHEN INSTALLING THE ROD ENDS! Install the cone spacers and hardware in the driver and passenger mounting brackets.

Re: Porterbuilt Trac-bar Install
Looks great. Love the instructional thread as well. We put in the stage 2 rear with track bar Etc a while ago and probably this weekend will be installing the stage 1 front with lower 'forward' control arms depending on how far along we get on my big block install.
Even though you can usually figure things out with some searching and looking, seeing a thread like this helps those of us who are less experienced! Please do more.
