Anyone ever wanted a lwb Sport side gmt 400?
I know people frown upon longbeds, but I love them. But I also like the gmt 400 step/Sport sides. Though the one thing I would really want is a long wheel base Sport side. Since GM never made such a thing in that era (there were lwb stepside 67-72s, and squares, though they are very uncommon.) I dream of one day pieceing together a truck, that makes gurus look twice, and purists vomit by lengthening a sport side bed, and dropping it onto a long wheel base frame. I think this would be a neat truck, others would think it was awkward, though I wouldn't care. My question is, has anyone else tried this? If so what was your result? If you saw one for sell would you buy it? Thanks.

Don't know anyone who's tried it, nor do I know anyone who would pay for one if it was made. Not many like longbeds, even less like the stepside from 88-98 with those running boards all around. Combine them and you'll be unique, thats for sure.

Someone did it at some point. Surprisingly, I don't hate it, because I can't stand how the squarebody long stepsides look. This one isn't terrible, though.
If I ever saw one for sale, I'd stop and take pics and look it over, but I would never own one. I'd like to see it done up all laid out on some big billets with shaved rear steps. |

Thanks for the picture, it gives me and others a great reference. Maybe one day my crazy ideas will become trendy.

Nah, you don't want your ideas becoming trendy. That way yours will still be pretty unusual.
