Another carrier bearing question

I'm sorry for asking another one of these questions, I've read other threads on the topic and have heard no definitive answer. So I've got a stock suspension, lwb 72 and I've had to replace the carrier bearing twice in about 20,000 miles. I've still got the stock drive shafts and everything. They always break at the mounts on top of the frame with everything else in good shape. Would switching to a billet bearing as opposed to the stock one do me any good or do I have some other problem that is causing me to break the bearings? Thanks for any advice!

Re: Another carrier bearing question

Any chance the driveshaft is out of balance?

Then I got one from NAPA and this happened 2 years later. Cheap Chinese crap.

So now it's pretty beefed up.

Re: Another carrier bearing question

I would say the driveshaft needs to be balanced, if the orientation of the two shafts was changed when the bearing was replaced it will be out of balance.

Re: Another carrier bearing question

that does look like it could be a torque problem and a billet bearing would help then have it balanced just in case worth the expense

Re: Another carrier bearing question

I'm not making a lot of torque by any means but since the drive shaft is original to the truck it may be due for a balancing. I know that it still has some of the balancing weights on it and I can't notice that any are missing but it wouldn't hurt to have it balanced since I need to replace the bearing anyway. The problem that sicklajoie was having is the same thing that has happened to me. So should I go ahead and throw some real welds on it for good measure?

If anything I would beef it up with more welds.
