Suggestions on engine and parts selection

Will have to make some tough choices real soon on what to replace my worn out 350. So far a 350/290 GM crate is on the list but trying to decide between an edelbrock 4 barrel or a stand alone TBI. The kits for the latter come with fuel pump, distributor and wiring ect. Also need t know if theres a better way to kickdown/overdrive on the existing 700r4. I know i'll forget the dash switch and ruin something the way it is. Also looking for better cooling fan set up and possibly a better heater. Its at restorer now so time is short. Looking at daily driver/Parade use so MPG and reliably are foremost. My tech/mech intel stopped at 1996 so newer better faster suggestions welcome.
