My 230 has an aftermarket fan and thick pulley that could accommodate two belts and extends forward in inch or so before the fan attachment. It appears to be too thick to go back to the stock fan.

Im not sure what other engines might have the same fan pulley as the 230. If you have one, let me know.

Also could trade my 6 blade fan and pullet for yours if anyone is interested in that. Picture is a little blurry but you can see what I currently have and how it appears to be thicker than stock.

I have the fan already -- I bought a 4 blade fan from another user a few days back, only to discover my pulley is too big to use it. If you're willing to separate, let me know.

Actually that will be fine as I can't find the fan right now, I believe it's in my lean to and it's less than organized. Here is the pulley I have:

Price sounds okay assuming shipping to 94947 is right around $10, but let me measure when I get home to make sure. Do you know what engine this came off of?

Also, don't suppose you have any extra oem style body bolts in your stash? I am looking for the 5/16"-18 X 3/4" Hex Washer head bolts with pinch tip to mount radiator shrouds. Not sure how many I'm short... Probably around 10 of em. I just thought I could save on shipping if you happened to.

It came off a 230. Do measure and make sure it will fit first, though. The center hole was 1/2" as I recall but I didn't post a pic of it. As for the bolts, yes I have a coffee can or two. I'll have to see what's in there. By shrouds are you meaning the two "wings" on the top on the radiator support on either side of the radiator?

Yes the three shroud panels show in the first picture of post #109 in this thread.

I'll count how many I'm short when I get home from work in an hour or so and also post a pic just to be clear.

Okay, so now I'm really confused. The pulley from your 230 is ~2.75" from front to back, which is the exact same as my current pulley.

As best I can tell, my new-to-me 4 blade fan plus what I believe to be the stock spacer is also ~2.75" front to back.

So even if I swap out to use your stock pulley, the pulley + fan would extend too far forward and would hit the radiator if the radiator was mounted in the correct rearward position.

So what gives? Is my entire engine somehow farther forward than it should be? Or am I incorrect about the OEM fan spacer size? Maybe the spacer shown in my picture is for some different configuration. It actually looks like it would fit fine if I didn't use a spacer at all, though I haven't dry tested it.

There should not be a spacer. I saw that in your original post and thought you tried to get rid of it I guess I should have asked. The fan bolts on right in front of the pulley to the water pump using some 1/2 inch long or so bolts. Try that with the fan you got and the pulley that's already on there, I don't think you need mine.

Got it. Sorry for the runaround. It's been difficult for me to find good pictures of an original configuration. I'll try to mount directly.

No problem. I have a fairly original 230, so if you need pics of anything else or have other questions, feel free to ask. As for the bolts you need, I'd just go to a hardware store and pick them up. I don't think you have to have the pinch tip for the surround there should not be much alignment to be done there.

The 2.75" pulley height is from the front of the pulley BACKWARDS to where the belts are. It doesn't affect how close the fan is to the radiator. No matter what pulley you use, it mounts to the front of the water pump, and therefore does NOT impact how close the fan is to the radiator. Make sense?

Even if you had a flat pulley, it only spaces the fan out towards the radiator by however thick the metal is on the pulley - an 1/8 of an inch maybe?

Not sure that fan will work without a spacer, it might hit the pulley or the belt. You've either got a water pump that's too long, a fan spacer that's too long, an engine mounted too far forward, or a radiator mounted too far backwards.

Yes, thanks. Since the spacer appeared to be oem I assumed I was supposed to use it. I mounted the fan directly to the pulley and now I can mount the radiator in the lower position. A PO had it in the upper forward position.

Are the engine stands in the front or rear holes in the frame? You may just need a shorter spacer and bolts.
