69-70 or 71-72 steering column?
Hi. I bought a 3 on the tree steering column, with the shift lever removed. The column was advertised as 69-72, no further info. I believe it had the red hazard flasher tab, which is broken off. I am trying to order a repo shift lever, but 69-70 is different that 71-71, if I remember my ordering options correctly. Can anyone help me identify what year my column is? It is at least a 69 because of the lower bearing, and collapsible shaft. Pictures are helpful. Thanks very much.

I have seen a few and am thinking 69-72 shift levers are the same.

Thanks. Unfortunately, all the catalogs seem to have different levers for 69-70 and 71-72.

Levers are not the same. 69-70 is thinner where it goes into column and held in by roll pin.

Wow! I guess I have some research of my own to do... I've got a different column than stock in my truck....

Re: 69-70 or 71-72 steering column?
My purchased steering column is totally disassembled for rebuilding, don't have any before pics. Picked up this shifter from a local junk yard, from a 67-72. Looks like a "shorty" shifter? Just painted the column John Deere Blitz Black, what do you guys think of the sheen? My truck has manual steering, so don't think I want a shorty shifter. Does this shifter look like it fits right? Still not sure which shifter to order?
