My truck c10 has a th400 with and 1968 1/2 ton diff. Has a two piece drive line. Im all ready cut the frame and and welding everthing up (lond bed to short bed) just doing mock up stuff now.. I was planning on running the two piece. But if I could go one piece and pick one up from a wreck yard and have a shop cut it down.to fit.... what would I need to get this done...fit and vehicle wise to look for?.. done easy I guess.. lol..

If your front yoke and all the rest of the drive shaft did fit and is in good working order be for the chop down you already had mentioned using a shop (Drive Shaft Shop) then just bring all of the drive shaft to the shop and have a new one put together for you. Or you can look for one from a short bed truck from the bone yards. Not a difficult thing to do, well finding a short bed drive shaft might be difficult.

I have had several short beds and everyone of them had 2 piece drive shafts. The 2 piece is actually stronger and works good with a nice carrier bearing. But I'm sure there are more knowledgeable gurus on here that can guide you in the right direction.

Check with DLtruck he was parting a bunch of trucks and is out your way .

If you value your time and money have a new shaft made by a reputable driveline shop.

Take your measurements to the boneyard and you will find one. Change over U-Joints are available from Auto Zone if you need innie to outie joints. I am running a one piece from a Caprice of about 1990 vintage but not sure how long it will last as I have only put 334,000 miles on it...
